This achievement not only belong to the UI itself, but also a national achievement. This is because the achievement is closely linked to government support for improving the quality of education at the UI. Government through the Ministry of National Education since 2010 has been launched quality improvement program and the international competitiveness of national universities through a program of internationalization.

The program was manifested in the activities of overseas scholarships for lecturers, facilitation of international publications, facilitation of international collaborative research, training for lecturers, development of performance-based management system, and so on.

Competitiveness Improvement Strategy UI

When viewed from the parameters of assessment in the rating QS World University Ranking, the indicators are used fairly comprehensive. The indicator in question is academic quality, publication, management, adequacy ratio of lecturers and exchange students / international lecturer.

Improving the quality of the elements they require serious work to develop the potential that exists both from within and from outside the UI. UI alone since 2007 has been proclaimed a vision to become a world-class research university.

UI is expected to be a university that is able to generate knowledge from research works whose quality is competitive at international level. This vision is in line with the Directorate General of Higher Kemdiknas Strategic Plan 2010-2014, so the support and facilitation of the government through Kemdiknas allows the UI to achieve that vision.

UI strategy to enhance the international competitiveness of internal consolidation, horisontalisme and global collaboration. Consolidation is done by strengthening internal administrative systems and management education in the UI. Among others by doing systems integration of financial administration and human resources.

Financial administration of the UI since 2009 has started an integrated and transparent. Integration has allowed UI to implement programs to improve quality by better and reduce the barriers stemming from the financing difficulties.

Financial transparency is also more secure with the development of better information systems and external audit done. Horisontalisme done by integrating science clumps. In the academic realm, a multidisciplinary scientific tradition in the three clumps of science, namely health, social and technology began to be developed to improve the quality of education and research.

Global collaboration is also actively conducted by the UI in the last 4 years. Number of international cooperation for the dual degree programs and international classes continue to be improved. Research cooperation with leading international universities also continue to be improved.

Performance resulting from this strategy is quite satisfactory. In 2010, there has been a significant increase in journal publications to reach 200 percent, human resource management at the university level as well as faculty and governance organizations that include culture, customs, policies and rules of the organization to support achievement of the UI as one of the best universities in Indonesia and the world.

This achievement is not easy in the midst of the dynamic development of higher education in Indonesia so it requires constant struggle to continue to improve the quality and the quality of education for the UI itself and Indonesia in general education.
